FAQs about boudoir shoots

(More FAQs below the video)

I really want to do a boudoir shoot, but I need to lose some weight first. Should I hold off until I’ve reached my goal weight?

I can assure you that you don’t need to wait. The posing and the lighting that I work with is going to downplay any areas that you’re not so fond of, and highlight the areas that you love about yourself. I work with clients of all shapes and sizes, helping them all to look their best and feel proud of their results.

Am I too old to do a boudoir shoot?

Absolutely not! I have clients ranging in age from 20 to 80, and am experienced with making them all look and feel beautiful regardless of their life stage. There’s no age limit on sexy.

What about my scars or my tattoos?

How we work with these is totally up to you. I personally think you look beautiful just as you are, so please don’t feel that you have hide anything. But if you’re self-conscious about anything on your body, or don’t want the world to see that tattoo that you got when you were 16, I’m totally happy to remove it.

What if I feel awkward in front of the camera, and it shows in my photos?

I can promise that’s not going to happen, because I’m going to guide you 100% of the time and help you to relax, using my expert knowledge of posing and lighting to ensure that you look amazing. I know that it takes vulnerability to be in front of the camera in your lingerie, and I am not going to let you feel awkward.

How long will the shoot take?

I only take one client a day, and am not going to rush you or watch the clock. We’ll take as long as you need to get comfortable and relax into it, ensuring you get the best shots possible. But in general, my boudoir shoots tend to last approximately 2 hours.

What are your expectations of me, in terms of what kinds of shots/poses I’ll be doing?

I don’t have any expectations of the shoot that we do together. All I want to know is that you’re comfortable, happy, and proud of yourself. I don’t doubt at all that by the end of the shoot you will be posing like the queen that you are, and that you will be proud of your images. But that’s something that you won’t know until you see them.

How do I get started with booking a shoot?

If you’re interested in working with me, please start by filling in the form on the contact page. It helps if you’re able to provide a short description of what you’re after (style, location etc.), and also some inspiration images that appeal to you. I’ll get back to you quickly and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Why should I choose Boudoir Photography Auckland?

You can rest assured that with my expertise in clothing tips, posing and camera angles, you will feel comfortable and at ease as I guide you through the shoot, and the shots will flatter your figure. After the shoot, I carefully retouch your chosen images to ensure that they look polished and professional, removing anything that bothers you like stretch marks, cellulite or bruises, while making sure they still look like you.

Where do you shoot the photos?

I photograph from my home studio located in Whangaparaoa, 20 minutes north of Albany. My studio is cooled during summer and heated during winter for your comfort. Alternatively, I’m happy to photograph on location if preferred, whether that’s in your home, a hotel room or another location that appeals to you.

Is makeup and hair included?

Makeup and hair is additional, as this allows those who are comfortable doing their own to avoid paying extra for something they don’t require. However, I work with some talented makeup artists who charge $150 for this service, so please let me know if you would like me to organise this for you.

Will my photos end up being used on your website or shared with other clients?

I am so grateful when clients allow me to share their photos, but respect when clients want to keep them private for their use only. Clients can choose to share all of their photos, only the anonymous ones, or none at all. It’s completely up to you.
